Joe McCourt’s legacy at Lafayette: a punishing, record-setting workhorse
Joe McCourt was a do-everything RB who powered Lafayette with downhill running, toughness, and big-play production; in the 2004 season, he rushed for 1,143 yards and 15 touchdowns, after posting 1,193 yards and a school-record-tying 16 TDs in 2004’s Patriot League title run, and he finished his career as Lafayette’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (50) and points (326). He was also praised as a punishing between-the-tackles runner and a player the offense ran through, making him a strong fit for teams that want reliability, physicality, and a proven tone-setter.
