Texas State safety Auston Deason brings proven tackling range and disruptive instincts
Auston Deason is a dependable Texas State safety whose value shows up in the little things: he finished with 17 tackles in 2021, added a season-high five stops in games against Appalachian State and Louisiana, and forced a fumble against Louisiana, while ESPN lists him with 18 solo tackles and one forced fumble overall. The differentiator is his steady, downhill play style and ball disruption rather than flashy production, making him a fit for a defense that wants a physical, assignment-sound defender who can tackle cleanly and create momentum-changing plays.
