Evan Shapiro is giving Western Michigan a strikeout arm with real bullpen bite
In the 2026 season, Evan Shapiro pitched in 22 games out of Western Michigan’s bullpen, posting a 6.75 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 26.2 innings, which works out to 10.8 strikeouts per nine and hints at swing-and-miss stuff that can play in relief[1][4]. He was used in pressure spots and even delivered a scoreless eighth inning in a close April game, but his overall run prevention needs sharpening; if you’re looking for a right-hander with bat-missing ability and room to grow, he’s the kind of arm worth a closer look[6][1].
