FIU's Towering DE with JUCO Pedigree and Disruptive Edge
Thatcher Starling, a 6-4, 261-pound defensive end who signed with FIU Panthers after a stellar JUCO career at Hutchinson CC—where he earned Team Defensive Player of the Year honors with 52 tackles, 5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles in 2006—debuted in 2009 with 3 unassisted tackles in his first game against Alabama, showcasing his raw power and relentless motor as a reserve. His size, pass-rush tenacity, and big-play disruption make him a prototypical edge rusher; ideal for teams needing immediate depth and developmental upside without injury concerns.
