the throwback UMass linebacker with proven production and veteran edge
Steve Casali is a 6-foot-1, 245-pound redshirt senior linebacker for Massachusetts who already has a reputation as a high-volume tackler and tone-setter; UMass lists him as a veteran defender, and his career résumé includes 224 total tackles and a 105-tackle season in 2016, when he earned Phil Steele First Team All-Independent honors. His appeal is less about flash and more about reliability, physicality, and instinct—classic linebacker stuff with a little extra bark. If your team wants a downhill, experienced run-stuffer who has already shown he can carry a defense, Casali absolutely fits the mold.
