Mason Buss brings Power-Arm Experience and Preseason Respect to UIC’s Rotation
In the 2026 season, Mason Buss has been a featured right-hander for UIC and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference preseason Players to Watch list, signaling real respect for his upside. He arrived from Kansas State after three seasons and 34 appearances, including seven starts, where he posted a 6-3 record with 53 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. The fit appeal is simple: an experienced, physical 6'1" senior arm with starter-level background and swing-and-miss potential. The risk? Early 2026 results have been uneven, so he looks more like a high-upside innings guy than a finished product.
