Ron Newcomb was a tone-setting, All-MAC-caliber interior force for NIU
In his NIU career, Ron Newcomb finished with 67 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 6 sacks, and he earned All-MAC recognition after a breakout season that showed he could live in the backfield and punish protection schemes. The differentiator was more than production: he was a sturdy, disruptive interior defender who flashed pass-rush juice, played with edge, and gave the Huskies a dependable downhill presence. If you want a DL who can collapse pockets and bring physicality, Newcomb’s profile checks the right boxes.
