John Dean brings rugged, high-motor linebacker play to Yale’s defense
John Dean has been a physical, productive outside linebacker for Yale, with 32 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss in the 2019 season, showing the kind of downhill presence that can change run fits and energize a defense. Yale’s own football coverage still points to Dean as the standard for a true middle linebacker profile: tough, intimidating, and built around physicality rather than flash. If you value a disciplined, hard-nosed defender who plays with edge and can set the tone in the box, he fits the mold.
