Ball State freshman Luke DeMasse brings two-way impact and big-game poise on the mound
DeMasse enters Ball State after a dominant high-school run in 2025, when he was named Michigan’s Player of the Year, posted a .361 average at the plate, and pitched to a 0.325 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 64 innings. His calling card is competitiveness: he excelled in pressure games, including multiple postseason shutouts, and he also adds lineup value as a hitter. At 6-1, 190, he projects as a tough, versatile right-hander who can help a staff with strike-throwing, composure, and win-now mentality.
