UT Martin’s Intense Midweek Starter with 28 Innings and Strikeout Power
In the 2026 season, Dean McCalla emerged as UT Martin’s primary midweek starter, delivering 28 innings across 11 appearances with a 1-1 record and multiple strikeouts, including a standout 2-K start against No. 15 Ole Miss[1][2]. Standing 6'3" and 200 lbs, McCalla combines a powerful 6'1" frame from high school with elite intensity and a competitive mindset that elevates his team in tight games[5][8]. His differentiator isn’t just stats—it’s his relentless drive, reliability under pressure, and ability to lock in hitters early, making him a high-fit RHP for teams needing a steady, intense midweek arm with playoff potential[1][2].
