Nick Payne brings rare size and explosion to MTSU’s receiver room
In the 2026 season, Middle Tennessee senior WR Nick Payne stands out for his 6-foot-4 frame, 40-inch vertical, and fade-route/hail-Mary value—traits that make him a real red-zone and contested-catch weapon[1]. He has also been noted for grading out at 91% on nine plays against Mississippi State, which suggests he can do more than just look the part when the lights are bright[1]. The fit is intriguing if a team wants a big-bodied, high-ceiling target with special burst, though his production profile is still more projection than proof[1].
