Michael Cooley is a towering, high-upside Cal defender still waiting for his breakout
In the 2025 season, Michael Cooley is listed by Cal as a redshirt sophomore outside linebacker at 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, a rare frame that gives him obvious upside and a matchup edge if his development keeps trending up. Cal’s roster page shows no stats for him yet, and recruiting services list him as a signed Bishop O’Dowd product, which suggests a player still in the growth phase rather than a finished product. If your team wants length, athletic projection, and special-teams/developmental value, he’s intriguing; if you need an established production machine, he’s not that guy yet.
