Akela Maize brings pro-sized rim protection and frontcourt experience
Akela Maize is a 6'5" center who graduated from North Carolina State in 2018 and has since played professionally, including in Israeli Division A and with the Phoenix Mercury, so she offers real high-level frontcourt experience rather than just college upside.[1][2] Her main appeal is size, interior presence, and the kind of mature, role-ready game that can stabilize a roster needing a true post defender or paint finisher.[1][5] If you want a seasoned big who has already been tested in pro environments, she looks like a practical fit rather than a developmental project.[1][2]
