Freshman Pinch-Runner Spark with Elite Speed and Middle-Infield Versatility
Neela Applegate, a 5'8" freshman from Earlham, IA, is a high-intensity middle infielder whose 2026 season showcases elite speed and pinch-running value: she appeared in 4 games, hit .500 (1 hit in 2 ABs), and scored 2 runs—proving she’s a game-changer off the bench. Her differentiator isn’t just stats; it’s her relentless intensity, natural leadership (witnessed in UNI’s birthday post), and versatility across 2B/SS/3B/1B/OF positions. No injury history reported, and her pre-college profile from Perfect Game highlights her potential to compete at the next level. She’s a perfect fit for teams needing speed, defensive flexibility, and a player who elevates intensity in every moment. Care about her because she turns limited opportunities into momentum—and fits any roster needing a spark.
