Toreros back with proven special-teams grit and limited recent statistical footprint
Tyler Tony has been a steady, depth-chart-type presence for San Diego, with his Toreros history showing him as a 2012 freshman wide receiver who moved to running back in 2013 and earned Offensive Scout Player of the Year honors that year. His profile suggests toughness, versatility, and buy-in to the program’s work ethic more than headline-grabbing volume, so he fits best as a dependable, role-oriented back who can help in practice, special situations, and on a team that values reliability over flash.
