WSSU’s 6-foot-3 DB is flashing playmaking upside in 2026
Zymiere Dempsey-Freeman has opened the 2026 season as a productive, rangy defensive back for Winston-Salem State, already logging 6 tackles through two games and showing up in run support with a fumble recovery/return touchdown on defense in 2025. His differentiators are size, versatility, and knack for sudden-impact plays—he can close space, tackle cleanly, and turn chaos into points. That combination makes him a useful fit for a defense that wants a physical DB with ball skills and real energy.
