a paint-protecting, rebound-heavy Charleston center
In his Charleston years, Mike Benton stood out as a high-efficiency interior scorer and elite rebounder, posting seasons of 10.2, 9.1, and 5.6 points per game with strong rebounding and shot-blocking numbers, including 2.8 blocks per game in 2003-04.[1] His differentiators are simple but valuable: physical size, activity on the glass, and rim protection—he consistently gave the Cougars extra possessions and made opponents think twice at the basket.[1][5] If you need a frontcourt anchor who impacts games without needing touches, he fits that profile well.[1][5]
