Big Frame, Limited Box-Score Impact, Still a Developmental Tight End to Watch
In the 2025 season, Trey Jackson was a 6-foot-5, 240-pound redshirt freshman at Texas Tech who appeared in all 14 games, mostly on special teams, with 56 offensive snaps and 95 special-teams snaps; he did not record a reception before entering the transfer portal in January 2026.[2][7] His appeal is obvious for a coach hunting upside: size, blocking/teams utility, and three seasons of eligibility left, but the tape résumé is still more projection than production, so he fits best as a developmental TE who can help immediately in the dirty-work phases and grow into a larger role.[2][7][10]
