Matt Kalfas brings low-risk lefty depth and strong academic profile to Fairfield
Kalfas is a 6-foot, 175-pound junior left-handed pitcher whose value is profile-driven: Fairfield says he has logged three scoreless appearances across 5.0 career innings, including two strikeouts in a hitless outing against FDU in 2025, and he was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Before college, he was ranked the 16th-best left-handed pitcher in New York by Perfect Game and posted 15.2 strikeouts per nine innings in high school, suggesting strike-throwing upside and left-on-left utility more than pure volume. He looks like a smart fit for a staff that wants polish, competitiveness, and dependable depth.[1]
