Iowa’s developmental tackle with size, grit, and a tough injury history
Waechter was a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman who arrived at Iowa in 2015 after being a three-star recruit and then battled through shoulder injuries that slowed his high school rise and ultimately cut short his college run. His appeal was classic Iowa-line stuff: length, physicality, and the kind of blue-collar mentality that fits a trench program built on development. He also brought uncommon versatility from high school, where he played both line and defensive end. The caution flag is durability, but the fit was clear for a power-run, hard-nosed system.
