Brendan Burke gives Norfolk State a veteran bat and steady backstop behind the plate
In the 2026 season, Norfolk State catcher Brendan Burke has been a reliable, experienced presence who combines contact ability, on-base value, and sneaky pop; he opened with a 2-for-2 effort against Towson and has had multiple multi-hit, RBI-producing games, including a 3-for-4 night with three RBIs against New Haven. Burke’s differentiators are his durability, plate discipline, and consistency—he started 35 of 36 games in 2025 and drew 22 walks, while also contributing three homers and seven doubles. He looks like a good fit for teams that want a tough, seasoned catcher who brings lineup stability and a solid academic/work-ethic profile.
