steady, savvy Canisius guard with a coach’s-eye skill set
In the 2005-06 season, Bret Wackerly brought Canisius a compact, heady guard presence: a solid ball-handler with good range, who logged 17 assists, 5 steals, and 83.3% free-throw shooting in limited minutes. At Hoover High, he arrived with a reputation as a polished distributor and scorer, posting 18.3 points and 5.1 assists as a senior and finishing second in Ohio Mr. Basketball voting. The fit? A smart, low-drama guard who can run an offense and stretch the floor.
