Veteran EWU DB John Kreifels brings toughness and special-teams grit
John Kreifels has been a long-tenured Eastern Washington defensive back, listed as a redshirt senior in 2017 after converting from linebacker, which speaks to his versatility and physicality. His biggest differentiator is edge: he earned Eastern’s Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year honor in 2014, and his career also includes a notable suspension in 2015 after a late hit on Oregon QB Vernon Adams, underscoring a highly aggressive style. He looks like the kind of player coaches trust for intensity, but the on-field impact data available here is limited.
