Jake Fire brings proven production and All-CAA edge to URI’s linebacker room
Fire was a steady, high-impact linebacker for Rhode Island, and in his 2022 season he started all 11 games, led the team with 99 tackles, added 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception. He earned Second Team All-CAA honors and finished his URI career with 200+ tackles in 46 games, which signals both consistency and durability. His value is the rare blend of volume tackling, splash-play creation and veteran leadership—ideal for a defense that wants a dependable field general who can set the tone physically and mentally.[1][2]
