Amos Rich brings strikeout stuff and a sturdy frame to UNC’s mound mix
In the 2026 season, Amos Rich has flashed early swing-and-miss ability for North Carolina, including 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings with two strikeouts in a Jan. 29 scrimmage and three strikeouts in 2.0 innings on Jan. 22, showing the same power-righty traits that made him a high-upside prep arm. He’s a 6-2, 200-pound freshman from Tuscola with a reputation for attacking hitters and missing bats, and his high school résumé included a 1.10 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings. The fit looks like a classic upside play: live arm, competitive edge, and room to grow.
