Robert McKoy brings veteran versatility and playmaking juice to Gardner-Webb’s linebacker room
In the 2026 season, Robert McKoy profiles as a multi-purpose defensive piece for Gardner-Webb: a 6-foot, 217-pound linebacker who has also been used as a safety/kick returner, and whose track record includes 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and three quarterback pressures in a limited 2018 sample, plus 2 interceptions in the 2019 team stat set. The big differentiator here is versatility with some thump—he’s been described as the team’s best defender in preseason camp and a move to outside linebacker clearly unlocked his instincts. If you want an experienced, aggressive, assignment-flexible defender, he’s a tidy fit.
