JJ Apathjang brings size, defense, and shot-making upside to NKU’s backcourt
A 6-foot-4 guard for Northern Kentucky, JJ Apathjang enters the 2026-27 season as a redshirt freshman after not appearing in games last year, but his high-school résumé is loud: in 2023-24 he averaged 18.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 48 steals, then followed with a 2024-25 line of 544 points, 108 assists, 146 rebounds, and 51 steals at Judge Memorial. NKU called him a fearless competitor with elite defensive potential and self-creation ability, which is exactly the kind of two-way, big-bodied guard that can swing a roster if the jump translates.
