Versatile Guard Bringing Ball-Handling and Defensive Intensity to St. Thomas
The 5'8" guard from St. Paul, Minnesota, is a crafty floor general who excels in facilitating offense and lockdown defense. In the 2022-23 season at St. Thomas, Mendez averaged 2.7 points and 3 rebounds while dishing 25 assists and recording 18 steals across 26 games—showcasing her value as a high-IQ, defensive-minded point guard over a pure scorer. A 1,000-point scorer in high school, she brings experience and basketball intelligence. Best fit: Teams seeking a reliable backup or starting guard who prioritizes team play, ball security, and perimeter defense over volume scoring.
