Former New Mexico edge rusher who brought instant disruption
Brett Bowers made his mark for New Mexico in the 2013 season as a high-motor defensive lineman who turned physicality into production, finishing with 37 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles while earning All-Mountain West honorable mention and a conference defensive weekly honor. The big differentiator was his burst and knack for getting into the backfield—more “problem creator” than space-eater—plus a reputation for a strong work ethic and steely demeanor. If you want an aggressive pass rusher with juice and edge, he fit the bill; if you needed a pure anchor, that wasn’t his lane.
