Proven Texas Tech leg with long-range upside and big-moment pedigree
Clayton Hatfield’s appeal is his blend of clutch experience and legitimate long-distance range: Texas Tech highlighted him as a Lou Groza Award-caliber kicker, and in his senior season he connected on 17-of-19 field goals while handling kickoff duties and finishing with 106 points[3][7]. He also delivered a memorable 37-yard game-winner in double overtime at TCU, showing the poise coaches want in a pressure kicker[1]. The main fit question is consistency—earlier stretches included some rough misses—so he’s best for a team that values ceiling, composure, and range over pure polish[2][3].
