undersized, high-motor UCLA linebacker who outplayed the label
In the 2010 season, Westgate finished second on UCLA with 90 tackles and ranked eighth in the Pac-10 with 7.5 tackles per game, then followed that with honorable mention all-conference recognition. UCLA described him as a quick, aggressive defender whose football IQ and special-teams value help offset his lack of traditional size for the position. He also drew preseason Rotary Lombardi Trophy watch-list attention, and outside commentary noted his steady starting role and toughness against the run. If you want a linebacker with instincts, edge, and proven production, he’s your guy.
