Antonio Smothers Jr. adds veteran linebacker depth for Arizona
Smothers is a **reserve linebacker and special-teams contributor** whose value comes from experience, versatility, and reliable effort rather than flashy stat lines; Arizona listed him as having played in nine games in one season and having prior junior-college experience at Scottsdale Community College. Recruiting services also viewed him as a meaningful prospect, with 247Sports ranking him among the top defenders in his class, which suggests a player with enough athletic and competitive traits to help a roster. He looks like a fit for teams that want a **steady, physical depth piece** who can compete on special teams and in the linebacker room rather than carry a defense.
