Jaxson Maynard brings size, toughness, and academic edge to UTRGV’s linebacker room
In the 2025 season, redshirt freshman Jaxson Maynard played in 10 games for UTRGV, finishing with five tackles, and he also flashed versatility with a 21-yard kick return. A 6-foot-2, 232-pound linebacker, he entered college with a reputation for physical, do-it-all defense after piling up 233 career tackles at Smithson Valley and helping lead his high school team to a state title game. He also earned repeated academic honor-roll recognition, which suggests the kind of reliability coaches love.
