Hawaii’s paint-anchor with elite shot-blocking chops
In the 2002-03 season, Christen Roper was the kind of center who changes a team’s defensive ceiling: she averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and ranked third nationally with 3.67 blocks per game, while also leading Hawaii and the WAC in career and single-season blocks.[2][1] What makes her special is the intimidation factor—opponents had to finish through length, timing, and toughness inside, and Hawaii’s own coverage called her the program’s most dominant defensive player.[15] If a team wants a backline eraser who can control the paint, Roper fits the bill beautifully.[15][1]
