Mercer’s Luca Perriello brings power, catching upside, and a healthy spring buzz
Perriello is a sophomore catcher for Mercer in the 2026 season with a compact 6-foot, 200-pound build and a switch-hitting profile that gives the Bears lineup flexibility[1][2]. He flashed real pop with a grand slam in his first official college at-bat and, in Mercer’s 2026 season stats, has hit .143 with one double and two RBIs in limited action[3][4]. Coaches have described his start to spring as strong and noted that staying healthy is the key to unlocking his impact, which makes him a high-upside fit for teams valuing toughness, offensive upside, and developing catch-and-throw ability[3].
