Senior Forward Dominates with Double-Doubles and Elite Steals for Southern Utah
DeAngelo Newsom, a 6-5, 220-lb senior forward for the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, is a data-driven standout who led his team in steals (2.6/game) and rebounds while ranking second in points and blocks during the 2023-2024 season, and recently delivered a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double in a 71-49 win over Lewis & Clark. His differentiators include an intensity level that fuels late-game comebacks—like his 18-point effort that secured a 78-68 victory over Oakland—and a personality defined by relentless defensive pressure, evidenced by his 2.3 blocked shots per game. With a career marked by consistency (65 games played in 2003-2004) and no reported injury history, Newsom is a perfect fit for teams needing a versatile, high-intensity forward who excels in both rebounding and perimeter defense, making him a must-watch asset for any roster seeking a reliable, stat-leading contributor.
