Herb McGee’s value: veteran shot-maker, steady guard, and a tough-minded Jaguar
Herb McGee was a proven South Alabama guard who offered shot-making, composure, and competitive grit; in the 2018–19 season, he logged 30.9 minutes per game and scored a career-high 24 points in one game, with South Alabama notes also highlighting him as one of the program’s better career 3-point threats[3][5][11]. He was more than a box-score guy: South Alabama described him as someone who excelled through personal adversity, and he also earned academic honors, which points to a reliable, high-character teammate who fits a program that wants leadership, spacing, and toughness[3].
