Abbie DeWaters brings glove-first upside and high-character depth to USF
In the 2026 season, Abbie DeWaters has flashed as a freshman catcher for South Florida, appearing in 18 games and picking up at least one hit and a stolen base in conference and nonconference play. She’s best known for her defensive value behind the plate, plus the kind of family-driven, workmanlike profile coaches love: she followed her sister Alice to USF, earned four-year academic honors in high school, and arrived with a reputation as a polished, high-IQ player. She looks like a strong fit for a program that values toughness, reliability, and room to keep growing.
