Georgia Southern DB with Elite Coverage Instincts and Bowl-Game Punt-Return Grit
Brett Layson, a Georgia Southern Eagles defensive back, stands out for his elite coverage instincts, rare ball-hawking ability, and intense punt-return performance in the 2024 bowl game against The Citadel, where he recorded a critical punt play despite a loss. Though listed as a DB, Layson’s high school background as a standout quarterback at Tattnall Square Academy (2005 Macon Telegraph City Co-Player of the Year) gives him unique field vision and decision-making under pressure. He shows no major injury history, plays with relentless intensity, and brings a competitive, team-first personality that elevates locker-room energy. Layson is a strong fit for teams needing a versatile DB who can read offenses like a QB and contribute on special teams with grit and precision.
