Carter James is MVSU’s steady veteran back trying to spark the run game
In the 2026 season, Carter James has opened with 11 carries for 23 yards and 1 catch for 5 yards, but the bigger story is his veteran presence as a senior, 6-foot, 206-pound runner for Mississippi Valley State. He brings a sturdier frame, experience, and a willingness to handle tough interior carries even when the box is loaded. The early numbers aren’t flashy, but he looks like a grinder who can help a team that wants physicality, ball security, and a dependable tone-setter in the backfield.
