Jacob Powell brings veteran beef and run-stopping grit to Illinois State’s front
Jacob Powell is a seasoned Illinois State defensive lineman whose value comes from experience, power, and straight-ahead reliability rather than flash. In the 2021 season, he started all 11 games at nose tackle and finished with 32 tackles, including 14 solo stops, while his earlier Redbird bio shows a high-school résumé built on production and physicality. He looks like a fit for a team that wants a tough interior anchor who can eat blocks, hold the point, and bring steady, blue-collar edge to the defense.
