Wisconsin’s Polished Big Man with Elite IQ and Defensive Versatility
Jared Berggren, a 6'11" forward/center for the Wisconsin Badgers, stands out as a cerebral, team-oriented big who spaces the floor, protects the rim, and anchors the defense with high basketball IQ rather than just athleticism. His 2012–13 season saw him average 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 46.7% from the field, reflecting efficient, low-usage production. Berggren’s strengths—rim protection, screen-setting, and defensive communication—make him an ideal fit for a disciplined, half-court program that values structure, spacing, and unselfish play over highlight-reel scoring.
