veteran Blue Hose anchor with all-conference grit
Sherman Burnett was a four-year starter at defensive end for Presbyterian and, in the 2007 season, was praised for bringing rare experience and steady production to the Blue Hose front, finishing with 203 career tackles and earning preseason FCS All-Independent recognition[1][2]. His differentiators were durability, leadership as a team captain, and a high motor—coaches said he gave the defense “a great deal of experience” and needed to stay in top form for the unit to excel[1]. He also added academic value, landing on the Big South Academic All-Conference team with a 3.2 GPA[2].
