long, versatile safety with Bison pedigree and untapped upside
Sheldon entered North Dakota State as a 6-foot-2, 187-pound safety from Cloquet, Minnesota, with rare multi-position background and real two-way athletic juice; in high school he played quarterback, running back, linebacker, safety and receiver, and finished with 1,716 rushing yards, 981 passing yards, 606 receiving yards, 72.5 tackles and three interceptions in his career. He was a three-year starter, first-team all-conference as a junior and senior, and he fits the classic NDSU mold: physical, versatile and comfortable doing a little of everything. He did not appear in games in his first college season, so the big question is conversion from prospect to impact player.
