veteran Wake Forest guard with a track record as a steady, team-first backcourt piece
Anthony Mathis Jr. is a 6-foot, 185-pound guard who brought experience, maturity, and deep backcourt know-how to Wake Forest, with a college path that included Navy before joining the Deacons and a high-school résumé topped by 2,475 career points at Kentucky Country Day. Wake Forest listed him as a senior on its 2021-22 roster, and the school honored him in March 2022, signaling his role as a respected veteran presence rather than a headline-stat machine. The appeal here is reliability, composure, and leadership—more glue guy than glam guy.
