Carmelo Jones is a preseason All-SWAC linebacker ready to break out for Jackson State
In the 2025 season, Carmelo Jones posted 36 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss in 11 games, then entered 2026 as a preseason second-team All-SWAC pick and a projected starter for Jackson State[12][13][14]. Coaches and local coverage describe him as one of the most athletic defenders on the roster with real “wake up” upside, which points to a high-ceiling, impact-player profile if he turns his tools loose[7]. If you want a linebacker who can play downhill, handle special teams value, and still has room to level up, Jones is worth the hype[2][13].
