Nick Heitman is a high-upside Iowa arm with real strikeout pedigree
Heitman is a 6-foot-3 right-hander for Iowa who arrived as a top-500 national prospect and one of Indiana’s better prep arms, with a junior-year line of 3.53 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings before a senior-year injury setback. Iowa’s staff clearly believes in the raw package: power frame, starter’s build, and bat-missing ability that showed up early. The big question is durability and how quickly that stuff translates after the redshirt year, but the ceiling makes him a legit watch-list arm for a program that loves developing pitchers.
