Austin Contreras brings local grit and depth at DB for UTEP
Austin Contreras is a homegrown El Paso defensive back whose value is more about reliability and familiarity than splashy production; available stat pages list him with 16 solo tackles in his UTEP career and no interceptions or passes defended, suggesting a steady, assignment-driven role rather than a ball-hawking one.[8][1] At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, he fits as a compact, physical depth piece who can add toughness, special-teams utility, and locker-room buy-in—traits that matter if your team wants a dependable, coachable defender with local ties.[3][7]
