FIU freshman DB Jakari Johnson brings South Florida toughness and playmaking upside
Jakari Johnson is a 2026 FIU freshman defensive back from Fort Lauderdale with a sturdy 5-foot-11, 200-pound frame and a reputation for ball production from high school, where he posted 81 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five interceptions and three sacks in his senior season. FIU’s staff describes him as bringing “South Florida swag” to the program, which fits a physical, high-energy defender with versatility and instincts. He looks like a developmental fit for teams that value downhill tackling, toughness, and upside rather than instant flash.
