veteran Bearkats safety with proven tackling chops
Cory Hamlett is a senior safety for Sam Houston who has long been valued for his reliability, versatility, and downhill tackling. In the 2014 season, he logged 6 total tackles against Incarnate Word and earlier that year had a three-tackle outing in the win over Nicholls, showing a steady, assignment-sound presence rather than flashy stat padding. Listed by ESPN as Sam Houston’s safety, Hamlett’s appeal is the combination of experience, special-teams value, and physical, no-nonsense play—useful if you want a dependable secondary piece who won’t get lost in the chaos.
